Share a map

You created the map and built the form mobile workers will use to collect data, and now you will share the map so that others can access it in the Field Maps mobile app.

Set the sharing level

Set the sharing level to determine who can access the map in Field Maps.

  1. Browse to the Field Maps Designer home page and sign in to your account.

    Home page

  2. Click the Park Asset Inventory map you created.

    Maps page

The Forms page appears with the form you built.

  3. On the side menu, click Sharing.

    Sharing page

The Sharing page appears; here you can configure the sharing settings for your map. The first step for sharing your map is setting the sharing level.

  4. Click the Set sharing level button.

    Set sharing level button

The Share window appears; here you can set the sharing level of the map.

Sharing options

You can choose from the following sharing options to determine who the map is shared with:

    • Owner—Share the map with only the map owner (yourself).
    • Organization—Share the map will all members in your organization.
    • Everyone (public)—Share the map with the public.
    • Group—Share the map with a group in your organization.
For this project, you'll share the map with everyone in your organization.
    Tip:

You can share the map with specific users in your organization by creating a group in ArcGIS Online and using the Edit group sharing button to share the map with that group.

  5. Select Organization and click Save.

    Share with organization.

The Review sharing window appears, prompting you to also share the Amenities layer you created with the map.

    Update sharing

  6. Click the Update sharing button so the Amenities feature layer is also shared.

    Update sharing button

Now that the map and layer are shared with mobile workers in your organization, they can access the Park Asset Inventory map in Field Maps and begin colleting data.

You can also provide a link and QR code that mobile workers can use to access the map directly. When the link is opened on a mobile device (either tapped or scanned), the Park Asset Inventory map will open in Field Maps. One way to deploy the map could be downloading the QR code, printing it, and having mobile workers scan it before they head out to complete work. A link and QR code for the map are automatically generated in Field Maps Designer.

Share via link and QR code

Now that you've shared the map with mobile workers, test the map in Field Maps to ensure it's ready for your team. Once you've tested the map, mobile workers can use it to collect park inventory data.
